Western Zhou, 1122-222 B.C, Pseudo-money, “Shield money”. These items all have a loop or bar on back as if for attachment to a (cloth?) backing, and are thus conceptually related to the wawa or "cicada" money and described by H.A. Ramsden (1912)”Chinese Early Barter and uninscribed Money”. As is usual with Zhou era bronze artifacts including string, bridge, bell, halberd, fish money, etc. are burial objects or at the most buttons, armor scales or horse ornaments, but not used for trade or barter. Nevertheless a very nice collection of c. 54 of these archeological artifacts in several different sizes
