Exceptional Great War group of four, awarded to Surgeon Basil Alfred Playne, Royal Naval Division. Group consisting of Distinguished Service Order, 1914 Star with clasp, War medal and Victory medal with Oak Leaves. Added King George V Silver Jubilee Medal and King George VI Coronation Medal. 1914 Star with clasp, War and Victory medal with Oak Leaves engraved with recipients name. Distinguished Service Order has minor damage to center enamel. Ribbon bar and miniatures included, in Spink & Son boxes, pin of miniature bar detached. Added War Medal 1939-1945. Together with this lot a picture of the recipient, various period newspaper parts concerning his Distinguished Service Order, also multiple letters of recommendation and a set of ID tags from his service time with the RAF. Fantastic collection of a Great War hero
