Six Chinese porcelain plates decorated in underglaze blue with a central scene of sunflowers and ruyi heads, the flat rim with scrolling stylised flowers and ruyi heads. According to Daniel Suebsman: 'The central motif is possibly inspired by the classical 'double-vajra design' (Buddhist ritual sceptre) of the Yuan and Ming dynasties. This double-vajra was often represented by plant compositions. As the present pattern has five heads instead of four it might be seen as a further development of the original'.
