Sintang Sultanate, AR 8 real (26.84 g.), 1770, ‘pillar dollar’, Mexico mint (KM.105), with a c/m of 5 raised dots within a 4 petal flower and a c/m in the shape of a “star like ornament” as also found on doits found in Jaffna (Scho.1257A; v.d. Wis G 23A). The usual attribution to Sumanep must be regarded as incorrect as the provenance of this and other coins with similar c/m’s is Sintang district in West Kalimantan / West Borneo and should therefore be attributed to the Sintang Sultanate.
