Lead/tin doit 1793 (6.11 g.). VOC-monogram surmounted by C (Colombo) with (unidentified) countermark / rev.: • I • / DUIT / 1793. By resolution of 19 May 1789 it was decided to strike Doits of an alloy of 2/3 lead, 1/6 tin and 1/6 spelter (tutenag), official weight 6.175 g. Scholten describes the countermark as a capital T with three dots below. So far no Doits of 1792 and 1793 have been observed without this countermark, which may indicate that the countermark was applied on behalf of the VOC-authority during the minting process and therefore applied before they were put into circulation.
