Stunning contemporary album from around 1860-1865 with 120 CDV (carte de visite) of nobility, royal families and famous people of that era. This particular album emerged after being kept in the family for about 150 years. It came up for sale at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht some 25 years ago and within 2 hours it changed ownership 4 times before disappearing until now (yours truly was the second owner ...). A rare opportunity to try and win this album in our auction. It includes CDV's of the royal Dutch family, Kaiserin Sissy of Austria and Franz Jozef, the Russian Czar, the emperor of Mexico, Royalty from Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Portugal etc. etc. Furthermore portraits of other famous people like Charles Dickens and Garibaldi. All fitted into this gorgeous contemporary album (only clasps are missing). For the internet dealer a golden opportunity to split it up into singles.
