AE As (Rome ca. 85 AD, 10.13 g) - IMP CAES DIVI VESP F DOMITIAN AVG GER COS X Laureate bust right with aegis on neck / SALVTI AVGVST Facade of altar-enclosure of the Ara Salutis Augusti with double panneled door and horns of the altar visible above (RIC 304 var.) - VF, a rare coin - The identification (location and history) of this altar is uncertain. Hill ('The monuments of ancient Rome as coin types', p. 64) suggests that it may have been erected under Titus because ot that's emperor failing health.
