American Civil War, Springfield Model 1861 "Colt special" musket, standard Union army rifle as used during the war, this example is made by: "Colt's PT, FA MFG Co. Hartford, CT", marked US, and dated 1864, on left side of the barrel the markings "VP" are faintly visible, with ramrod, metal of the breech shows signs of corrosion, otherwise very nice condition, presentable and functional example
