Seven Chinese porcelain dishes decorated in underglaze blue with a scene of 'The Sense of Smell' depicting two European ladies each smelling a flower with their attendants behind them holding a basket filled with more flowers, the rim with floral sprays, the reverse with three floral sprays to the rim and an artemisia leaf within a double blue circle to the base. The scene derives from an engraving by the French engraver Henry II Bonart (1642-1711) and was a popular theme in the late 17th century.
