Lot 1204

Hand written Brazilian letter dated Rio de Janeiro, June 2nd 1835 in which Emperor S. Pedro I informs Baron of Parnaiba the death of his grandfather, Francis Joseph I who passed away on March 2nd 1835. Francis Joseph I was actually his wife's grandfather. The Emperor furher declares that there were three months of mourning in a 'strict way' followed by 3 months in a relieved way. The document is signed by J. Vieira Da Silva Souza
