Gerrit Groenewegen (1754-1826), 'Shipping outside the harbour of Vlaardingen, Schiedam beyond', pencil, pen and brown ink, grey wash on paper. This is the original drawing for the artist's etching entitled 'Het Vlaardingse Hooft' dated 1797. A drawing in the Maritime Museum, Rotterdam shows the same composition, but is presumably only a copy after the present lot ot the print after it -16,1 x 25,8 cm- Provenance: H. van Leeuwen, Christie's Amsterdam, 10 November 1999, Lot 445, Kwakkelstein family, Vlaardingen
