At the beginning of the 19th century, during the Sultan of Aceh, Jauhar al-Alam Shah, Teluk Samawi became for a while the capital of his government before he returned to his palace in Banda Aceh. This coin must have been produced during the period Samawi was the capital of the Aceh Sultanate
