1 Gulden 1943 Wilhelmina NICA serie (P. 111) with ovpt. in blue on front (ON 1300): Financiën Nieuw Guinea -VF_x000D_ After WWII and Indonesia’s independence, the Dutch government restricted the circulation of Netherlands Indies NICA notes in Netherlands New Guinea. These notes could only be exchanged for new Netherlands New Guinea Gulden notes in 1950, if stamped by the Dutch institutions on the island. These stamped notes are considered the first circulating banknotes in Netherlands New Guinea, predating the official 1950 series.
