AR abbassi of 5 shahi (9.14 g.) of Persia i.n.o. Shah Abbas II, AD1642-66 Host coin mint: Tiflis, AH107x (AD1661/62). Countermarked at Colombo? with the Company’s monogram VOC/I? The initial above the VOC-monogram seems an ‘I’, but differs from the usual Jaffna countermark. Perhaps an unreported Jaffna c/m, but more likely a die-defect of the c/m punch.
