Interesting lot with 20 coins of Mahmud II (1808-39) incl. 5 Kuruşh AH1223/23(2), 25(6), 26 (5) (KM591) / 100 Para (2½ kurush) AH1223/26 (5) (KM590 (2), 598 (3)) / 2 Kuruşh AH1223/15 (2) (KM570) 6 Kurush AH1223/28 (KM603) - nice mix billon and silver coins, Mahmud II instituted extensive administrative, military, and fiscal reforms. His disbandment of the conservative Janissary corps removed a major obstacle to his and his successors' reforms in the Empire. A nice partial survey of his coinage, which shows a bewildering variety in ten different issues does reflect these reforms too. Mixed grade, average VF, one coin pierced. € 150
