1 Gulden or Florin 1807 (Sch. 152 / RRR / L. Schulman Handboek 150 / R3) - Obv. Head of Louis Napoleon to right ‘NAP. LODEW I. KON. VAN HOLL’ / Rev. crowned coat of arms between 1. - F, date and mm. bee below. ‘KONINGRIK HOLLAND’ - Reeded edge - NGC MS63 - Cert. # 8361709-004. - NGC incorrectly attributed this coin as a 50 Stuiver (Sch. 140a) on the label. - RRRR. This coin is one of the great rarities within the categorie of Napoleontic numismatics. According to the accompanying collector’s ticket, Mr. Vinkenborg purchased this piece at a J. Schulman auction in 1957, for 260 Gulden with a further pedigree to the Collection Mak van Waay. Soon after the coronation of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte as king of Holland in June 1806, the first designs of various denominations appeared with the portrait of the ambitious king. The design of the 1807 Gulden of the first type (Sch. 152), depicted an error in the legend “KONINGRIK HOLLAND” and a remarkable denomination of 1. - F. (Florin).
