AR Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Ephesus (or Rome?) AD 81, 10.73g) - IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG PM Laureate head right / Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus containing the statues of Juno, Jupiter and Minerva (RPC 860 / cf. RIC 515) - F/VF, a very rare coin. The Capitoline Temple of Jupiter was severely damaged during the great fire of AD 80 AD, and with this emission Titus announces its reconstruction. It was during the reign of Domitianus that this temple was restored and taken into use again.
