AE ½ Rasi-stiver (5.59 g.), (Scho. 1253; Passon 47.5) Obv.: A human figure resembling Kali / rev.: An horizontal J, surmounted by two dots obliquely placed (a special characteristic of these stivers), below 13 dots in four lines 4,4,4,1. Rasi was the name for a type of gold fanam struck on the Malabar Coast. The Rasi type gold fanam was, from 1666 onwards, struck by the VOC at Cochin. Due to the similarity of the copper stiver with the gold fanam issued by the VOC, they are often referred to as copper Rasi. RRRR - gVF
