Serial number 8503, indicating 1860 as production year, the first year of production of the 1860 Army.

JULY, 2, 1872.’. The cylinder is engraved with the cartouche ‘COLTS PATENT No 027’ and ‘ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843’. The engraved scene on the cylinder refers to the Naval Battle of Campeche of 1843 between the naval forces of Texas and Mexico. Serial number 3027. Circa 1872.
